West Pokot residents have been urged to actively participate in public participation forums where government plans and policies for a better future are discussed.
Kapenguria Ward Administrator William Toktok said as the county government kicks of its public participation forums on the 2023/2024 budget this week, residents are welcome to give their views for a better county budget process.
Speaking to KNA in Kapenguria, Toktok noted the forums will give the residents opportunities to air their priority.
“The more there are participants the more inclusive the proposals will be hence a true representation of the wider population,” said the administrator.
He regretted that some people only show up to complain about misplaced priorities when they failed to show up and give their inputs.
There have been claims that poor public participation has been occasioned by lack of facilitation fee for all the participants with members of the public deciding to abandon their civic duties.
Kapenguria, Siyoi amd Mnagei wards will conduct their public participation on the county budget process at Mtelo Hall in Kapenguria Town this week.
