Busia girl appeals for help to join form one

A 17-year-old girl is appealing for financial support from well wishers for her to join secondary school, about three months since schools opened doors for form one admission.
Mercy Nanjala is still stranded at home due to lack of school fees.
She sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams at Airstrip Primary School in 2022, managing to score 292 marks.
She was subsequently invited to join St John's Alupe Secondary School in Teso South, but she is yet to report due to lack of school fees.
Mercy says hopes of joining form one during first term are over, given the fact that schools close next week for the two-week April holiday.
She wants well wishers to support her so that she joins her peers next term.
"I am hoping for a miracle to enable me join my peers next term since the first term is coming to an end next Thursday," she told members of the press at her mother's rented house in Ebenezer, Burumba, Busia County.
She is the first born in the family of a single mother, Christine Asirang.
Asirang is a small scale trader who is finding it difficult to make ends meet.
Mercy is the first born in a family of five. Asirang is appealing to well wishers to support her daughter.
"The future of my daughter lies on the county, national government or well wishers to enable her achieve her cherished dreams; that is my passionate plea to those who cherish education," appealed the mother.
Neighbour and retired teacher George Makata who gave the media a tip said Mercy needs support, adding that her mother in unable to lay her fees.
