CS Mutua reveals why he signed to ‘say Gachagua must go’

Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary (CS) Alfred Mutua has perhaps been the only minister to publicly declare support for the bid to oust Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The impeachment motion against Gachagua, was tabled by Kibwezi West Member of Parliament (MP) Eckomas Mwengi Mutuse, who was elected on the Maendeleo Chap Chap party ticket.
The party is led by Mutua. The former Machakos governor on Friday joined residents of the County during a public participation exercise, revealing that he signed the motion, in a bid to oust the second in command from office.
“As a resident and voter of Machakos County, the first Governor of Machakos, and a proud Kenyan patriot, I stood with my fellow citizens to hear the charges of impeachment brought against Deputy President H.E. Rigathi Gachagua,” he said.
“Together at Machakos Social Hall, we listened as the case was laid out point by point, and I even had the opportunity to ask questions for clarity. For me, the conclusion is undeniable: Kenya deserves better leadership,” Mutua added.
The CS said he is opposed to regressive politics, tribalism, and corruption which enslave us or haunt the future of our children and grandchildren.
We cannot, Mutua added, return to a system that enriches a few while the majority suffer, accept a society where your name or tribe defines your fate, tolerate a culture of arrogance, impunity, and theft or stand by in a country where jobs go only to those with connections.
“We must push forward towards a just society with systems that benefit all, where hard work is rewarded. Kenyans desire peace, stability, and opportunity—something impossible with a tribalist in a position of power.”
Mutua insisted that the “Deputy President’s shareholding model has deprived our region of its rightful development, leaving us behind.”
“It is time to remove this roadblock so that President William Samoei Ruto can bring development to every corner of Kenya, including Machakos,” he added.
