CS Owalo hands Sh800, 000 to Gor Mahia players, pledges a bus

Gor Mahia players have every reason to smile.

Kogallo playing unit on Tuesday recieved a financial boost after Cabinet Secretary (CS) for ICT Eliud Owalo handed over Sh800, 000.

The money will cater for the player's winning bonuses, for the last Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League matches.

Gor Mahia Captain Philemon Otieno recieved the money on behalf of his collegues.

The CS during the Club's breakfast meeting at a Nairobi hotel pledged to deliver a bus to Kogallo, in the coming months.

He said the current 'green and white army' squad is capable of making history, like the Gor Mahia team of 1987, which won the Mandela Cup.

"I continue giving moral and practical support to Gor. I urge the players, for their part, to reclaim the KPL title and, subsequently, replicate the feat achieved by the Kogalo 1987 Mandela Cup (Africa Cup Winners Cup) winning team," he said.

Ambrose Rachier, Club chairman called on ex players to consider other ways of resolving their disputes with the team, over non payment of salaries and allowances during their time at the FKF Premier League side.

A host of former players have dragged Kigallo to FIFA to push for payment of their accrued funds.

"We have been forced to pay millions of shillings in fines and interests. I urge the players to consider other means to resolve disputes with the club,” he said.

Kogallo are in hunt for a record 20th premier league title.

They lead the 18-teams league table with 56 points after 26 rounds of matches, two ahead of defending champions Tusker FC.
