Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mr. Mithika Linturi has promised a brand-new school bus to his former high school Igembe Boys alias Christ is the King if they attain a mean target of 9.0+ in the 2023 exam.

Speaking on Tuesday during an academic day held in the institution, the CS promised a reward of Sh50,000 to students who will score A while those with A-will go home with Sh 30,000 as a token of appreciation.

The CS was impressed with the 2023 class which has the highest number of agriculture students adding that the knowledge acquired will go a long way in transforming the economy of the country.

"Today I am happy to hear that you have 202 agriculture students who will be sitting for their exam this year. It is the biggest number ever recorded in this school. With agriculture being the backbone of our economy, I want to tell you that you're in the right direction," said the CS.

Linturi further said that he will provide his former school with enough fertilizer as well as the agriculture experts to train students, teachers and the entire community on matters pertaining agriculture.

He also expressed the government commitment in improving education adding that the institution will receive around 100 computers before the end of July 2023 and urged the school management to ensure that their laboratory is set for the installation of the same in time.

The CS called on students to maintain a high level of discipline and work tirelessly to attain their target of 9.0+ in 2023 KSCE. He awarded the institution Sh200,000 for their exemplary performance where out of 260 students who sat for the 2022 KCSE exam, 247 qualified for direct University admission.

“I am very proud of the good work you are doing. I urge the Igembe Boys’ fraternity to maintain the same spirit. The success of our able boys depends on our efforts," Linturi said.
