Four youths in Shauri slums, Embu town have been arrested by police after being found in possession of cannabis sativa of unknown value.
Confirming the arrest, Embu West Sub County Police Commander Julius Chyumbule said that they received a tip off from the residents of Shauri slums on presence of notorious bhang dealers in the county.
The Sub County Police Commander said that they laid an ambush at Shauri slums and arrested four youths who were in possession of the drug.
According to the officer, the nabbed bhang was packed in 6 basins, one container and one drum which was full to the brim.
Alongside the nabbed bhang, the four youths were arrested with 7 knives which the police suspected to be their tools of trade.
The Sub County Police Commander said that the police have not managed to determine the street value of the nabbed bhang.
“Yes, we have managed to nab some bhang that has caught our attention but we have not yet managed to know the street value of the drug,” he said.
The officer said that the police were acting on a directive that was issued by the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua when he visited Embu County on April 12 and directed all the county security agencies to mount a crack on drugs, illicit brew and the new generation type of alcoholic drinks in the county.
The officer also added that the police managed to destroy some illicit brew at Majengo estate in Embu County.
Embu West Sub County Police Commander thanked the residents of Shauri slums for giving information to the police and urged other residents in Embu to volunteer any information to the police concerning drug dealers in the county and any other related information.
Chyumbule said that the four youths will be arraigned in court to be charged for being in possession of bhang.
