Former Kisumu Women Representative Rose Auma Nyamunga has landed a government appointment.

She has been appointed the chairperson of the board of the postal corporation of Kenya.

The appointment was made by Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Information, Communications and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo, via a gazette notice dated 27th April, 2023.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the postal corporation of Kenya Act, 1998, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and Digital economy appoints Rose Auma Nyamunga to be the chairperson of the board of the postal corporation of Kenya," reads the gazette notice.

Her appointment takes effect from 27th April, 2023, and it will run for three years.

That means the appointment of Peter Kanaiya has been revoked.

Kanaiya was appointed in last year, under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kanaiya took over following the death of the former board chairman Njoroge Nani Mungai who passed away in January, last year.

Rose Nyamunga served as the first Kisumu Women Representative from 2013 to 2017.

She lost the seat to Rosah Akinyi Buyu during the 2017 elections.

From 2017 to 2022, she served as nominated Senator after being handed the mandate by ODM party.

Nyamunga is among politicians who started leaning towards President William Ruto's administration after the 2022 polls.
