Father of top KCPE candidate reacts to results

Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has today, Monday, March 28, 2022, announced the top 10 candidates in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.
Magata Bruce Mackenzie from Gilgil Academy emerged as the 2021 KCPE top candidate with 428 marks.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Bruce's father could not hide the joy that his son had emerged top in the national examinations.
An elated Jared Magata stated that he had expected his son to perform well and bag good marks but he did not expect him to top the KCPE class of 2021 candidates.
"Nilitarajia atapata marks mzuri lakini sikutarajia atakua wa kwanza Kenya nzima," an elated Magata stated.

Speaking from Kisii, Magata revealed that his son Bruce is in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County. He noted that since the announcement of the results, he has not been able to reach his son since his phone had been busy.
The excited father outlined future plans for Bruce as they had previously discussed.
"Nilikua na mpango aingie Alliance High School. Tulielewana atie bidii aende his dream school," Jared Magata stated.
Bruce's father divulged that he had expressed interest in pursuing aeronautical engineering in college. "He is not that much into medicine," Magata said.
14 candidates made it to the top ten list of best-performing pupils nationally. The highest mark dropped from 433 marks in 2020 to 428 in 2021.
Bruce was the top candidate with 428 marks. He was closely trailed by Momanyi Kerubo Ashley of Makini School with 427 marks.
At 426 marks were; Kuoma Charity of Holy Family Misikhu, Mbugua Sharon Wairimu of Emmanuel Springs, Muteti Muteti Shantelle Ndinda of Kitengela International, Stanley Otieno Omondi of Rofin Field Junior, and Wekesa Naomi of Whitestar Academy.
To wind up the top 10 with 425 marks were; Kimani Ethan Karuga of Stepping Stone Preparatory, Njeru Joel Musyoka of Nyagwa Primary, Kirinya Muriuki Victor of PCEA Mwimbi Boarding Primary, Diana Rose Matolo, and Kaderia Emmanuel Kiplagat Ngetich of Kabarak.
Magoha announced that of the total 1.2 million candidates, only 320 candidates in seven centres were involved in irregularities. He noted that the ministry is working to ensure that exam cheating is completely eradicated.
