Allan Liaram Meing’ati, 30, has been sworn in office to become the first County Attorney of Narok County.
Meinga’ati, a renowned advocate of the high court was an active ODM member who unsuccessfully vied for the Narok North parliamentary seat on the ODM ticket in last year’s general election.
After the elections, the young advocate denounced his party and cringed to the ruling coalition, Kenya Kwanza, where he pledged to work with Governor Patrick Ntutu.
The youthful advocate did not get it wrong as he has been heavily rewarded by the UDA governor to act as his legal advisor and represent the county matters in court.
Governor Ntutu who witnessed the swearing in ceremony reiterated the many county cases lying in court, which he asked the new county attorney to expedite so as they can come to an end.
“We have several cases lying in the high court, court of appeal, and Supreme Court awaiting determination. Some of these cases are very pitiful and we wish our new attorney will initiate a process where the cases will be heard outside the court,” said Ntutu.
The first-time governor said he considered it wise to have the attorney’s office so that he can get professional legal advice and court representations unlike in the previous administration where the former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai did not consider it wise to have such a position.
The swearing-in event was held at Narok County Assembly chambers and was presided over by Narok Senior Resident Magistrate Adelaide Sisenda.
At the same time, Joseph Kasaine Leng’eny, 34, was sworn in as the third County clerk of the Narok County assembly.
Leng’eny, a human resource professional has a vast experience in the banking sector and previously served in the human resource department of Narok County Assembly.
Narok Speaker Davis Dikirr congratulated the new officers and asked them to work for the good of the county.
“During the interview, the two young men demonstrated their ability to perform. We are confident that they will deliver great services to this county,” he said.
