Former Boston Marathon winner Wesley Korir has bagged the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket for the Cherangany parliamentary seat.
Korir won the ticket after garnering 16,946 votes in the UDA party primaries conducted on Thursday, April 14, 2022, across the Country.
His closest rival, in the frame of former banker John Tunduria got 7, 522 votes.
Addressing the press after being declared winner, Korir called upon the people of the Trans Nzoia County Constituency to vote for him, during the August 09, 2022 polls.

"I want to really extend my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Cherang'any for believing in me. I also want to ask them to extend the same in the August 9 elections so that we can deliver this seat," he said.
Wesley Korir won the Boston Marathon on April 16, 2012, in a time of 2 hours 12 minutes 40 seconds. He had previously won the Los Angeles Marathon in 2009 and 2010, the first back-to-back winner in eight years.
He was elected Cherangany MP in 2013, defeating Joshua Kutuny. Kutuny made a strong comeback in 2017, recapturing the seat on the ruling Jubilee party ticket. Kutuny is currently Deputy Secretary-General, Jubilee Party.
They will face off again during the August 09, 2022 poll. Patrick Simiyu of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) and FORD Kenya's Benson Milimo are also in the race.
Meanwhile, former Mining and Petroleum Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) John Musonik has conceded defeat in the UDA party Bomet gubernatorial race. Early results show Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok leading in the UDA gubernatorial primaries.
