Two factions have come out to jostle for the position of Bungoma Ford Kenya party youth league leadership leading to evident cracks.

A section of the youth in the league plotted a coup to topple the current party leadership.

The incumbent party youth league treasurer, Samuel Juma told KNA that the Youth League had planned for a delegates meeting at the County Ford Kenya offices but hired goons barred them from holding the meeting.

Juma said that those who turned up for the meeting were attacked by rowdy youths who surrounded the Ford Kenya offices ready to fight.

“When we arrived at the party headquarters in the County to hold a meeting with our delegates from Sub- counties, we were unable to enter because we were chased away by hired goons,” Juma said.

Juma however noted that the grouse started last week when Governor Kenneth Lusaka handed Sh100, 000 to support the youth start a business and grow the party. The money, Juma claims was deposited on their account.

“We don’t know why our friends are fighting us, we are the legitimate office bearers and we shall continue transacting the party business,’’ he said.

Juma said that during the skirmishes some youths were hurt.

He claims that the other faction wanted the money shared among the members, a notion his faction refused.

One faction is supporting Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli , another is against him.

Those that are supporting Senator Wafula Wakoli claim that they dethroned Lewis Kisaka (Youth leader Ford Kenya party), Sophy Chebon (League Secretary) and Juma Samwel (Youth League Treasurer).

“We take this opportunity to warn some elected leaders who are sponsoring anarchy by inciting some of us to imagine they can wake up one morning and overturn leadership,” Kisaka, the youth leader said.

He noted that coups are plots of people who fear dialogue because of their weak reasoning adding that they should embrace dialogue and welcome anybody who has issues to follow the right Ford Kenya party procedures.

Kisaka argues that the youth league is an establishment of the party and it is not inclined to any individual elected leader and “we are guided by our slogan of ‘Usawa haki na Ukweli’.”

Kisaka affirmed that the youth league is stronger than any other time and has proper plans to ensure growth, vibrancy and more achievements of the party.
