Good Hope Sacco has given 12 students from needy backgrounds bursaries to aid their secondary education.

The society’s Chairman Isaac Kilesi said a needy but bright child was selected from each of the 12 zones that the Sacco covers in Narok County.

“We have divided the members of our Sacco into 12 zones so that we can be able to serve them effectively. Each zone has a leader who helped to identify the vulnerable child in need of help,” said the chairman.

The money, he said, is paid directly to their school accounts as school fees, adding that the Sacco does not mind the tribal or religious background of a child, but only considers the vulnerability of the family.

“The management of the society felt that we should give back to the community from the profits that we make. During the Covid-19 era, the Sacco distributed food to many families in the Mara ward, who depend on tourism for survival,” he reiterated.

Kilesi invited the members of the public from all sectors to save with the Sacco to secure a promising bright future.

The society’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elvis Kipai said the society aims to see a prosperous society saying education is one way of improving the living standards of the people.

He called on the children joining form one to work hard and embrace discipline as they are the future leaders of the society.

Kipai said society will continue helping bright children from needy backgrounds so that they can achieve their dreams.

“We give priority to our needy members. This is why we encourage the members of the public to continue saving with us so that they can reap the benefits,” he reiterated.

The initiative comes at a time when many families are struggling to make ends meet, with many parents raising concerns over the high cost of living.
