The government will start the digitization of farmers’ records as planned so as to register a fresh all farmers’ countrywide.

“The exercise is free, and we ask all the farmers to come out and register and to give credible information, during registration process,” said Keshe.

She added that the exercise is simple and fast, no need for famers to show their titles deed.
Ms Keshe asked farmers to volunteer and register with the extension officers from their respective Sub-counties so that they could benefit from subsidised farm inputs from the government.
According to the CEC, the records will help the government to have the data for all farmers in every County, so that they would benefit from government inputs such as subsidised fertilisers.
The government issued directives through the State Department for Crops with an aim of establishing a credible national database of all the farmers, which will capture key details including IDs, location, crop acreage a farmer has.
Ms Keshe urged farmers to register cooperatives in their respective wards so that they can access government services easily.
The digitization of farmers’ records will help and support the implementation of governmental subsidy programmes in the agriculture department.
The extension officers who were trained will carry out the digital registration exercise at their respective wards level.
