Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has ordered her government's enforcement officers to be courteous when dealing with members of the public.
The governor said she doesn't want to hear of cases of askaris mistreating members of the public as they carry out their duty of maintaining order and ensuring the county collects its due revenue.
"I expect you to treat the public with utmost respect even when you tell them to do the right thing," Governor Mbarire said at the Embu stadium as she commissioned 155 new enforcement officers who graduated after a two-week training.
Governor Mbarire said they'll be counting on the officers’ services in a bid to realize the county's Sh one billion revenue target and reminded the county's citizens that the county's revenue collection has gone completely paperless, hence they should only pay by Mpesa.
She said going paperless had enabled the county to raise revenue collection from Sh 350 million to Sh 600 million and made it possible to target Sh 1 billion this financial year.
Saying that indiscipline will not be allowed, the governor said her government will be at hand to help those who may be having psychological challenges with the right care and support.
"I will ensure that you are happy and healthy as you go about your work", she assured them.
