Governor Natembeya maintains public land repossession to go on

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has reassured members of the public that repossession of grabbed public land will be conducted within the law.

Governor Natembeya made the assurance while addressing the public in Kiminini Sub County where he commissioned development projects on Monday.

The Governor revealed that the devolved unit had prepared a legal framework, which will guide the process, which he promised will be transparent and fair.

Dismissing critics opposed to the planned public land reclamation process, Natembeya boldly vowed to proceed with the process and leave no stone unturned.

According to the Governor, the process of repossessing public land is a long and complex one. However, he stated that it is an important step in ensuring that public land is utilised for the benefit of Trans Nzoia citizens.

"I guarantee to my great people the full recovery of all grabbed public land to pave the way for infrastructure development. Land grabbers will not be an impediment to economic growth and development in this county,” Natembeya affirmed.

He added his administration will work closely with the relevant authorities and stakeholders in the land repossession activity.

The County boss' remarks come in the wake of harsh criticism against his administration spearheaded by several politicians and individuals opposed to the public land repossession.
