Guards charged with stealing TV screens from church

Two security guards were arraigned before Kabarnet court to face charges of stealing by servants after they allegedly broke into a church they were entrusted to protect and reportedly stole five television screens worth Sh 650,000.
Thomas Sabuling’ong and Henry Rotich who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Edwin Mulochi faced three counts of burglary and stealing contrary to Section 307 of the Penal Code and conspiracy to commit a crime in violation of Section 393 of the Penal Code.
They were charged that on June 12, 23 at an unknown time, the accused hired as night watchmen at AIC Kabartonjo township church broke into the house of worship where they stole the five television screens
The accused also faced an alternative charge of neglect to prevent a felony in violation of Penal Code Section 392 as they failed to employ all reasonable means to prevent the theft of the television screens.
Sabuling’ong and Rotich however denied all charges when read to them claiming that they were wrongfully accused.
The Senior Resident Magistrate released the duo on a Sh200, 000 bond each with one surety of a similar amount.
The case is set for mention on July 6 and hearing begins on July 19 when at least four witnesses are lined up to testify.
