Unknown assailants attacked and killed a Primary school head teacher in his house in Teso South Sub County.
According to his wife, Prisca Amoit, Charles Emoto, a head teacher of Ong’ariama Primary School was killed by thugs who attacked them in their house on Wednesday night.
‘On seeing mwalimu, they shot at him, and he died immediately before pointing a gun at me,” said Amoit.
She added that they later ordered her to produce the cash box which they made away with.
“The cash box contained some money meant for table banking that they group was preparing to share on Saturday.
Confirming the incident, Teso South Sub County Police Commander Amos Ambasa said that they received information from the area chief and responded immediately.
“Unfortunately, the thugs had already done the damage and disappeared,” he said adding that they had made some headway and discovered where the assailants broke the cash box.
Ambasa stated that investigations are ongoing and urged the local residents to volunteer relevant information.
He asked the local residents not to keep money in their houses and trust anyone.
“Let us keep our money with the banks so that we avoid such incidents,’’ he said adding that security officers are ready to offer security when called upon.
Teso South DCIO Said Majimbo urged the local residents to remain calm and be ready to volunteer relevant information.
The incident has been criticized by the villagers as well as education leaders led by KNUT Teso branch secretary Geoffrey Ekasiba who urged the public to be very careful especially during this festive season.
"We have lost two teachers through robbery in a span of one month and now Charles Emoto is third one so people should be very careful,” said Ekasiba.
