Bomet County Executive Member in charge of Health Dr Joseph Sitonik has issued firm instructions to all personnel in charge of medical facilities that they were personally responsible for every single item delivered.
Sitonik was speaking on Tuesday at Longisa referral hospital where he warned of diversion of both drugs and nonpharmaceutical items to private medical facilities as well as chemists.
He said this after receiving a consignment of drugs and nonpharmaceutical items worth Sh65 million from the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA).
The CECM added that the department was working on a system that would enable effective monitoring of distribution and use of all drugs delivered to public healthcare centers.
"We appreciate the National Government for streamlining operations at KEMSA and ensuring that the supplier responded to our requests in a timely manner," he said.
Sitonik assured that the consignments were to be delivered to all sub county hospitals, health centers and dispensaries by close of business Tuesday.
