Health officials arrested in Uasin Gishu over theft of ultrasound machine

Three health officials  from Uasin Gishu county are helping police with investigations following the theft of a Sh.1.3m Ultrasound machine from a public health facility

The three were arrested and taken to Langas police station in connection with the theft of the machine that was stolen from Kapteldon Sub County Hospital in Kapseret Sub County, Uasin Gishu.

The three health officers were however later released on a Sh. 10,000 cash bail each.

Uasin Gishu County Criminal Investigating Officer, CCIO, Peter Kimulwo said preliminary investigations indicate that the room in the health facility where the Ultrasound machine was stolen from was not broken into prompting officers from the directorate of criminal investigations, DCI, to arrest the three health officers stationed at the facility,

“The three will help in the investigations, there were no visible signs of forced entry into the facility,” said Kimulwo. 

The Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) will next week Wednesday address the media over the arrest of three of its members. 

A section of the Nurses had complained over an attempt to deny the three cash bail at the Langas police station.
