ID replacement, passport application fees increased

The government through the Ministry of Interior and National Administration has increasing the fee for the replacement of identity cards from Ksh100 to Ksh2,000.
In a gazzete notice issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on 6th November, 2023, the government also proposed increasing the fee for persons acquiring an ID for the first time to Ksh1000.
“It is for the general public that pursuant to Regulation 60 of the Public Finance Management (National Government) Regulations, 2015, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning has granted to the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration the authority for the State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services to revise charges and levies on its services,” read part of a gazette notice.
Passport fees have also increased from Kshs. 4,500 to KSH. 7,500
Additionally, It will now cost you KSh 50,000 to get married at the Attorney General office from KSh. 5000.
Kenyans seeking to change the details in their ID card will be forced to pay Ksh 1000 while those seeking identification reports will have to pay Ksh 1000 up from Ksh 300.
Civil servants seeking Civil servant cards will now pay ksh 1000 from initial Ksh 100 while staff badges will be acquired at Ksh 1000 from initial Ksh 350.
The revised charges will also see Birth certificates issued at Ksh 200 from the initial Ksh 50.
