At least 25 soccer teams in Kajiado West have received games attire and balls at the launch of the first Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) Kajiado league with an aim of improving and nurturing games in the county.
Kajiado West Member of Parliament George Sunkuyia said that they will ensure they train and educate referees who will help nurture the youth talents to grow the games and ensure they realized their full potentials.
“We will ensure we train the referees and allow young people to get registered because this is an area where if we put in effort it can improve our country’s economy. We will also manage to keep young people away from abusing drugs and engaging in other illegal activities,” said Sunkuyia.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) secretary Kajiado, Nathaniel Shukuru called on political leaders to emulate Sunkuyia’s action and support young talents.
“Instead of engaging in politics, I would like to encourage you to emulate what these leaders have done so that our young people can be able to get help,” said Shukuru.
Kajiado county speaker Justus Ngussur said that, as a county, they have to set aside a certain amount of money in this year’s budget that will be used to construct stadiums so that young people can be able to play in well-equipped stadiums.
The 25 teams that received kits over the weekend are expected to compete against each other where the winning team will be awarded and promoted to play in the county’s league.
