Mt Elgon Constituency MP Fred Kapondi has stopped a football tournament sponsored by a Bungoma businessman and politician Joseph Lendrix Waswa at Kipsis area in Mt Elgon constituency claiming he was not involved.

The football tournament was to be launched yesterday by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino at Kipsis area in Mt Elgon constituency Bungoma County.

Kapondi noted that his office has was not informed and involved in the event in which MP Owino was to be the Chief Guest.

He noted that Owino was set to take advantage of the event to blast the head of state President Dr. William Ruto at the event.

"I cannot allow anyone to blast the President of the country in my constituency," Said Kapondi

The area MP noted that he was not informed of the event and he was the one to welcome his colleagues from the Parliament in the event they visited his constituency.

The MP said that his intelligence had already informed him that the person's invited including his colleagues were expected to insult the head during the event in his constituency.

Kapondi said that he is set to serve the people of Mt Elgon Constituency thus telling his political competitors that the election was over and all elected leaders are legally in office.

He noted that the national constituency development fund has been on the forefront facilitating tournaments in different field led by fund manager Carolyne Wanyonyi.

He called upon the organizers to follow protocol and also to involve his office for further advice.

Kapondi urged politicians not to engage in such activities that are meant to humiliate the head of state.

Stating that they can try it elsewhere but not in Mt Elgon constituency when he is the area MP.

The area MP saw the tents meant to host the guest brought down and residents urged to leave the venue with immediate effect.

The area MP said that politics was over and asked the organizers who according to him had political intentions to wait till 2027.

He cautioned any one with such intentions to follow the right channel of hosting such events.

"It’s very unfortunate that my office was not involved, I am not aware despite the fact that my colleagues have been invited it's not right," he said.

Kapondi lamented that the venue of the event was a few kilometers from his homestead and he was not aware of the event despite his colleagues being invited.
