KBC appoints Paul Macharia as acting Managing Director

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Board of Directors have ratified the appointment of Paul Macharia as the Acting Managing Director, effective from December 20, 2023.

KBC Board of Directors chairman Eng Benjamin Maingi in a statement sent to newsrooms indicated that as a board they convened a Special Meeting on December 20,2023 to address key concerns outlined in the Cabinet Secretary's correspondence to the Chairman of the Board regarding the position of KBC Managing Director.

“Following a thorough consideration of the issues raised by the CS, Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, the Board has endorsed the revocation of Samuel Maina’s appointment as the acting MD of KBC,” said Maingi.

He explained that the Board, recognising the concerns articulated in the Cabinet Secretary's letter revoked Maina’s appointment effective from December 20, 2023.

“Adherence to due process in strict adherence to the Employment Act, The Constitution of Kenya, and KBC HR Policies, the Board is committed to upholding due process,” said Maingi.

He highlighted that the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy will be duly notified that the Board has initiated appropriate disciplinary proceedings to comprehensively address the matter.

“Leveraging his extensive experience, Macharia is poised to make a significant contribution to the ongoing success of Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. In light of these resolutions, the Board assures stakeholders and the public that all actions taken are in the best interest of the organization, ensuring strict adherence to legal frameworks and the maintenance of the high standards expected of KBC,” said Maingi.
