KCPE: Drop in number of candidates with over 400 marks

Cabinet Secretary (CS) for education Ezekiel Machogu on Thursday morning announced results of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
Over 1.4 million candidates sat for the exam a month ago, with the top candidate scoring 428 marks.
That is three marks less than the 431 scored by the top candidate in 2022.
Here is summary of the 2023 KCPE results:
400-500 marks (8523 candidates)
300-399 marks (352,782 candidates)
200-299 marks (658,278 candidates)
100-199 marks (383,025 candidates) 001-099 marks (2060 candidates)
"8,523 which is 0.6%, attained 400 marks and above, a drop compared to the 2022 results where 9,443 candidates scored 400 marks and above," said CS Machogu.
He said the placement for form one will start on Monday, with the exercise expected to last for two weeks.
"Placement of KCPE candidates in secondary schools to start on Monday, November 27 and conclude in two weeks."
The CS said all candidates will get placement either public or private schools across the country.
All KCPE candidates can send their index number followed by the word 'KCPE' to 40054 to get their results.
