Kenya Airways warns Kenyans against fake job advert
By Peter Ochieng
The Kenya Airways (KQ) management has warned Kenyans against falling prey to fraudsters, who are circulating fake information relating to job openings at the national courier. KQ flagged the advertisement as fake, urging Kenyans interested in job opportunities at the airline to always check its website - kenya-airways.com.
“Please be aware that the message circulating on social media regarding job openings at Kenya Airways is fake and did not come from us. For accurate and hiring information, always refer to our official website and channels.”
The fake post, complete with KQ logo, an email address to send application and a set deadline had advertised various job openings, including airline food service, flight attendant, receptionist, booking clerk and security officers.
Qualifications included a D plus in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), excellent computer skills, ability to work independently in a fast paced constantly changing environment, and a team player with excellent people handling and problem-solving skills.
Others were extremely self-motivated, confident, disciplined individuals with attention to detail and ability to cope with and handle stressful situations. The fake advert had capped salaries of ‘successful candidates’ at between Sh45, 000 and Sh60, 000, ‘negotiable after three months of probation.’
“Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted,” the fake advert concluded.
