Nairobi County Women's Representative Esther Passaris has raised questions about the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) after releasing a brutal murder suspect who was allegedly responsible for the deaths of 42 women.

Via her X network, Passaris acknowledged her relief that the primary suspect in the murder was apprehended but asked questions about how the police could have let the killing to go on for nearly three years.

"Evil surrounds us. As I try to find comfort knowing the killer has been caught I have many unanswered questions. She was the first victim who was a wife who was reported missing," Passaris joked.

The lawmaker demanded a list of all those who went missing during the time when the killings are alleged to have taken place from the police and the investigating authorities.

"Did the police fail to act and release a serial killer to abuse and kill our women?"She asked.

"The police should publicly announce the names of all victims reported missing on their websites and social networks," she said.

Passaris explained that the deaths could have been avoided if the police officers involved in handling missing people's reports took their duties seriously.

"Do you take missing persons reports seriously? Or is it just an OB report? Do you care enough or is it just a statistic?" She posed.

"Would we have avoided all these deaths if you never left the prime suspect when he killed his wife," the lawmaker asked.

She pointed out that the department's negligence and disregard for human life are demonstrated by the police reports, as well as by the identification and apprehension of the serial killer suspect.

"No one goes missing without family or friends raising concerns, the police should tell us more. Are missing persons reports taken lightly," Passaris added.

The DCI has identified and arrested the suspect responsible for the murder, mutilation and disposal of the bodies of at least 42 women in the Embakasi dam in the Pipeline area.
