Kenya - China on course with infrastructure Development

Kenya and China have embarked on progress to foster implementation of infrastructural projects within the county as the two Nations commemorate 60 years of Bilateral agreements.
Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen while on a three day official your in China has engaged Chinese Government Executives to steer growth and partnerships in the development of the infrastructure sector.
Murkomen held consultative meetings with Chinese Minister of Transport HE Li Xiaopeng in Beijing, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Deng Li and the Deputy Director General of the China International Development Agency (CIDCA), Tan Wenhong.
The transport CS also held a meeting with Wang Weidong who is the Executive Vice President of China Development Bank (CDB).
According to Murkomen, the engagements were centered on strengthening Bilateral Development and comprehensive strategic partnership.
"Our discussions were centered on strengthening our bilateral development cooperation and comprehensive strategic partnership between our two countries even as we celebrate 60yrs of diplomatic relations," Murkomen said in a Facebook post.
Murkomen further revealed that the Kenya - China partnership is keen on completing the ongoing road projects, extending the railway to Malaba, dualing of main highways, expansion of ports and airports’ infrastructure, equipping Technical and Vocational Institutions, build water dams, implementing smart and intelligent traffic systems among others.
Murkomen also adressed the 2023 Global sustainable Transport Forum where he underscored the importance of global partnerships in the development of sustainable and climate resilient transport infrastructure including the opportunities available in Kenya for Public - Privet Partnerships (PPP).
Murkomen's trip to Beijing comes ahead of President William Ruto’s planned visit to China to where he is expected to meet with his counterpart President Xi Jinping.
