By Robert Mutasi
Today is a promising day as fans take in some exciting basketball, with the Equity Hawks and KPA Dockers of Kenya seeking to make their marks in the FIBA Women's Basketball League Africa, Group D Qualifiers.
The two teams face a competition of placement for 5th/6th and 3rd/4th positions, respectively, in today's double-header action.
First up, at 1.00 p.m., the first classification match of the day will see Kenya's Equity Hawks come against Uganda's JKL Lady Dolphins.
This will be one important match since the Hawks are seeking to redeem themselves after a tough spell in the qualifiers.
A victory would ensure that they seal their position in fifth place, which would speak volumes for a resilient performance that they have shown and resolved to prove themselves in the league.
The ladies from JKL will be out to prove their strength, hence this can also not be a game to miss for the lovers of basketball.
Later in the day, at 3:00 p.m., Kenya's KPA Dockers take on Rwanda's APR Women in the race for third place.
KPA, being experts in slick plays and having an experienced roster, will try by all means not to let this opportunity slip away from them to get into the top three.
They have indeed had a great run through the qualifiers, showing their determination and basketball art. But equally competent will be APR Women from Rwanda, a team that is competitive in its own way and presents experience on the court.
This is going to be one exciting match since both teams aim to end the qualifiers on a high note.
Today's meetings between the two teams mark an important chapter for Kenyan basketball, with both the Hawks and KPA attempting to bring pride to the country.
These qualifiers have pitched teams from different parts of the African continent against each other in a fiercely competitive WBLA, and today's final matches give an opportunity for Kenyan teams to showcase their capabilities on the continental arena.
While fans and supporters are expected to rally behind the teams, expectations are high for a triumphant outcome for both Kenyan sides.
The games are just getting started, and anticipation is gradually ratcheting upwards-and all eyes will be on the Equity Hawks and KPA Dockers as they try to wrap up the qualifiers in style.
