Kindiki assures KMTC graduates of job opportunities

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) graduates that the government is hell-bent on ensuring that they land job opportunities.
Speaking during KMTC’s 93rd graduation ceremony at the Kasarani Sports Complex, Nairobi on Thursday, Kindiki said medical professionals are key in the success of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program, adding that opportunities will be created for them in the country or abroad.
“Our professionals in the medical field are vital to achieving the Universal Healthcare vision,” he stated.
“The government will continue to create opportunities for the market ready graduates coming out of our healthcare institutions, but also exploring partnerships abroad for international labour mobility.”
“I am informed that the college equips students with skills necessary to transition into local and international job markets. Programs such as the National Council Licensure Examination Training for those seeking opportunities abroad, basic language courses and pre-departure training to ensure our graduates are competitive globally,” noted the DP.
21,261 professionals joined the job market after the ceremony, attended by among others, cabinet Secretary (CS) for health Debroh Mlongo Barasa.
Transition from National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to Taifa Care, Kindiki said, is an integral part of the government's pursuit of the vision of delivering quality healthcare for all Kenyans.
“And it is a key pillar in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). All the teething challenges in the transition process are being resolved and we welcome ideas and proposals to improve the roll-out and implementation of the transformative health reforms,” added the former interior CS.
He said quality and affordable healthcare is the foundation for a dynamic, prosperous and productive Country.
Kindiki said the government is deliberate and clear in its prioritisation of health reforms and interventions to address and increase accessibility, affordability and availability of health services to all citizens.
