A shopkeeper in Kisumu is counting his lucky stars, after winning Sh1 million in the ongoing ‘Kachingching’ promotion by beverages company, Coca-Cola.
Willy Mmach a shopkeeper in Otonglo was informed of the win on July 1st 2024, after consuming a 300ml coke soda, that now sees him smile all the way to the bank.
He started making entries when the promotion was launched in May, and managed to win several prizes including Sh50 and Sh100 before the windfall.
Speaking during his unveiling as the latest winner at the Coca-Cola depot in Tom Mboya, Kisumu on Tuesday, Mmach said he was surprised to be informed of the win, adding that he is lucky to become a millionaire courtesy of Coca-Cola.
He said he will invest the money in buying land, which will go in tandem with constructing a house for his young family. He is married and has been blessed with three children.
“I am very happy. As a man, it is important to have my own home. I plan to buy land and build a house for my family.”
“This promotion is real. I urge every Kenyan to participate. One can become a winner along the way,” he added.
Mary Mmach, his wife, said they used to participate together before lady luck smiled on her husband. “I thank God he answered his prayers. When he was called, I thought they were conmen but later realised that it was a call from Coca-Cola,” she added.
Phoebe Jakoyo, Coca-Cola trade marketing manager for Nyanza region said the promotion is genuine, urging Kenyans to consume the company’s brands, ranging from 200ml to 500ml in order to stand a chance of winning.
“We still have about 6 millionaires to go, so you could be our next lucky winner.”
To participate in the promotion, participants must purchase any Coca‑Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Krest, Stoney or Schweppes product offered in 200ml, 300ml and 500ml returnable glass bottles.
One is then required to check under the glass bottle’s metallic crown for a ten (10)-digit alphanumeric code, then send the code via SMS to the short code 40111.
Participants will receive an SMS confirming the validity of the code, as well as notification of whether they have won an instant prize or have been entered into the draw to stand a chance to win the weekly Grand Prize of Sh1 million.
The 13-week-competition which started on May 20, ends on August 20, 2024.
