Kisumu teacher allegedly killed by husband

A family is in mourning after a husband allegedly killed her wife in Kisumu.

The deceased is reported to be a 33 year old woman, a teacher at Obwolo Secondary School in Kisumu's Nyakach Subcounty.

It is not clear what caused the disagreement that led to the murder, but reports indicate that the husband attacked his wife at her pub in Oboch.

While confirming the incident, Upper Nyakach Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Darwin Orina said the suspect has been arrested, and is aiding police in investigations before being arraigned.

"The suspect is already in custody and investigations have commenced. Any other person who will be found to have been involved in the matter will be apprehended," he stated.

In addition, area Assistant Chief Michael Gundu said the two were having marital issues.

"Today morning, the man is said to have had a quarrel with the wife today morning before the incident occurred."

Matters got out of hand at around midday, when the husband allegedly attacked his wife, killed her before wrapping his body in a mat and placing it behind the house.

Members of the public reportedly attacked the husband, but he survived.

The incident comes amid a public outrage over cases of women being murdered by their would be lovers.
