Kware murder suspect escapes from police custody

By Peter Ochieng

Thirteen inmates have escaped from Gigiri Police Station, in Nairobi.

They include Collins Jumaisi, a prime suspect in the alleged murder of over 40 women, before dumping their bodies at the Kware, in Nairobi.

The other 12 have been reported to be Eritreans. Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin confirmed the incident.

“It is unfortunate this has happened but we are pursuing the matter for action."

Jumaisi was a top suspect and had been remanded at the police station pending plea taking on Friday.

Jumaisi and co-accused Amos Momanyi and Moses Ogembo were presented before Makadara Principal Magistrate Irine Gichobi, where the prosecution sought the court to allow them to detain the three accused persons for 21 days.

Momanyi and Ogembo were detained at Muthaiga Police Station.
