Lack of agents cost Raila the presidency - Kabando

Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) Kabando Wa Kabando believes little details may have cost Azimio leader Raila Odinga the Presidency.

Kabando was among a host of leaders in Central Kenya who backed Odinga's 5th presidential bid.

The ODM party leader lost for the 5th time, against then Deputy President William Ruto.

Kabando in a tweet on Thursday morning said Odinga lacked agents in most parts of the country especially Central Kenya, which may have cost him a great deal.

For instance, the former legislature said two days to the August 9th polls, Odinga had no agents in Nyeri county.

"Truth sacrosanct. God is Truth. Truth shall set you free. Sunday, 7th August, we had no presidential agents in Nyeri," said Kabando.

His observation comes as various players continue reacting to Saitabao Ole Kanchory's book.

Kanchory was Raila's Chief agent during the August presidential election.

He says in his book titled 'Why Baba (Raila) is not the 5th' that the former Prime Minister lost the contest because of various issues, among them disorganisation in his campaign team.

Kanchory says that they had a State of the Art Command Centre, but it was full of infighting.

He adds that agents were trained, but a senior Azimio leader changed the entire list on the eve of the elections.

"There is little doubt that the shambolic and deeply compromised Azimio Command Centre is what cost Raila the 2022 elections," he says.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Ruto winner of the 2022 presidential contest with 7.1 votes, against Raila's 6.9.

However, the ODM party leader claims he won the contest with 8.1 million votes, against Ruto's less than 6 million.

He claims the figures are courtesy of an IEBC whistle-blower.
