Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has said he is fully focused on seeking re-election despite reports linking him with the running mate position in the Azimio la Umoja coalition headed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Speaking on Sunday night during an interview with NTV, Kinyanjui noted that having served as governor for one-term, there are a lot of initiatives his administration is yet to complete, therefore it would be unfair to ditch Nakuru county for a higher office. He further noted that his intentio is to contest and defend his seat so as to complete and deliver on the promises he made residents of the city. “For me I believe it is good to have your eyes on the ball cause when you have your eyes all over, you end up missing critical moments. My heart and my energies are in Nakuru. Nakuru is like a baby to me, I wouldn’t  want to leave them mid-air.A lot of the things we have done would otherwise go to waste. “Our dream is to run for Nakuru governor and ensure police we’ve started continue and become a way of life,” he started. Other names that have also dominated the debate include; Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege among others. Meanwhile, IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati has announced that presidential candidates have until April 28, 2022 to name their running mates. “We expect to know their running mates on the date when they submit names of the nominated candidates...either themselves as independent candidates or through the party, if a political party candidate, this being April 28,” Chebukati said during an interview with the Star.
