Majority of Kenyans opposed to Mudavadi's office

Majority of Kenyans are willing to see the back of' office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) occupied by Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi.
During campaigns ahead of the August 2022 presidential elections, then Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto promised to appoint Mudavadi to the position, if elected Kenya’s 5th president.
He did so soon after being sworn into office.
However, according to results of a poll conducted by research firm, TIFA, the majority of Kenyans prefer the creation of the position and office of official leader of opposition, over office of PCS.
The survey found that 45 per cent of Kenyans strongly support creation of the position and office of official leader of opposition, while 21 per cent strongly oppose this move.
Under the same breadth, a majority of Kenyans (31 per cent) strongly oppose the current office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, held by Mudavadi.
27 per cent of Kenyans however strongly support Mudavadi’s office.
15 per cent are somehow in support, 20 per cent are undecided while 7 per cent somehow oppose the office.
Creation of the position of the official leader of the opposition as well as the existence of the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, is one of five issues tabled for discussion in the ongoing bipartisan talks, between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio.
TIFA’s survey indicates that a majority of Kenyans at 48 per cent strongly support the talks, 19 per cent strongly oppose, 16 per cent somehow support, 13 per cent are undecided, while only 4 per cent somehow oppose the talks.
Meanwhile, former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni is still believed to be the legitimate Secretary General (SG) of the Jubilee Party.
According to a poll by TIFA, 32 per cent of the respondents recognize Kioni as Jubilee's SG while 21 per cent consider East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega as the party's SG.
28 percent of those who support Kioni’s leadership are pro-government, 47 per cent are pro-opposition, while 17 per cent are neutral.
31 per cent of those who believe in Kega's leadership are pro-government, 15 are pro-government while 13 are neutral.
Kioni and Kega are embroiled in a bitter fight for control of the Jubilee Party.
