Man fined Sh15,000 for theft, destruction

A court in Kenol, Murang’a south Monday fined a young man Sh15000 for stealing a house iron sheets and destroying a perimeter wall.

Anthony Mwaura was accused of stealing iron sheets and destruction of property belonging to the JXTE Company.

The accused, the court heard that at Kiambaa, Murang’a South on May 30, he unlawfully trespassed the JXTE company property and made away with eight pieces of Bitumen iron sheets valued at Sh8000.

The accused also destroyed the company’s perimeter wall.

Area senior resident magistrate F. Koome found Mwaura guilty of the two counts and ordered him to pay a fine of Sh15, 000 or alternatively serve three months in prison for each of the count.

The Senior Magistrate also ordered that exhibits presented before the court be returned to the owner.
