A Kangema court has jailed a middle aged man four years after he admitted growing bhang in his home compound.
Moses Mwangi Ng’ang’a was found cultivating 13 plants of bhang behind his house at Kanjama village of Mathioya Sub County, Murang’a on 23rd, December last year following which he was arrested by the area chief assisted by police officers from Kiriaini station.
When he was first arraigned before court, Mwangi denied the charges but entered a guilty plea on Thursday before Murang’a Principal Magistrate Irene Gichobi.
The facts brought before the court indicated the accused was found with the plants grown in three large plastic papers and hidden behind his house.
On Thursday, report from a government chemist where the uprooted stems were taken for verification, revealed that the plants were indeed bhang.
In mitigation he pleaded for leniency saying he has a young family and promised to change to a better person. He was given 14 days to appeal if he was not satisfied with the judgment.
