Manchester City outclass Real Madrid to qualify for Champions League final
Manchester City are into the 2022/2023 Champions League final.
The English team outplayed, outclassed and outscored ousted defending Champions Real Madrid 4-0 in the second leg of the second semi final, at the Etihad stadium to qualify for the final.
Two goals from Bernardo Silva, an Eder Militao own goal and one from World Cup winner, Argentine Julian Alvarez is what Pep Guardiola's City needed to destroy Madrid.
The English side booked a final slot courtesy of a 5-1 aggregate score, after a 1-1 draw during the first leg last week.
Guardiola said he believes the thumping of Real Madrid was his best in the Champions League, rating it above title wins with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011.
Barcelona defeated Manchester United in both finals.
"The highest, considering the opponent. The standard was really, really good," he said post match.
Last season, City lost to Madrid at the semi final stage.
The City boss is happy his players have carried out revenge a year later.
"I had the feeling we had the mix of calm and tension to play these types of games. It was so tough last season losing the way we lost. We had to swallow poison. When we got Madrid in the draw I said 'I want it'."
Manchester City will face Inter Milan in the final in Istanbul, Turkey on June 10.
