Man’s body found floating

A 40-year-old man’s body was retrieved from a river Thursday in Lower Nyaburi Village in Upper Kakwajuok Sub-Location in Rachuonyo North Sub-County.

The deceased, identified as Elijah Bosire who hailed from Kisii County is alleged to have been murdered in a different place before his body was dumped into river Awach by unknown assailants.

According to the area Assistant Chief Athanasio Onduto, Elijah’s body was found floating in the river by a woman who alerted him immediately.

“The woman had gone to fetch water last evening when she saw the body afloat,” he said.

It is reported that the deceased had gone missing on Sunday night before his body was found in the river.

Before the incident, said the chief, the late Elijah had been working for one Mama Rael Obuya at her farm.

The administrator noted that the body had visible injuries on the head, amid suspicion that the victim might have been hacked to death by use of a sharp object.

The deceased body was retrieved by police officers from Kendu Bay police station and taken to the Kendu Bay Adventist mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
