Mary Moraa, the winner of the Diamond League Final, has advanced to the semi-finals of the 800m Women's event at the Budapest Athletics World Championships in Hungary, which took place on Wednesday.

Moraa took first place in the second heat, clocking a time of 1:59.89, outperforming competitors from the USA and Ethiopia.

American athlete Raevyn Rogers closely trailed Moraa, finishing with a time of 2:00.06, while Ethiopian Worknesh Mesele completed the top three in the second heat with a time of 2:00.13.

In the first heat, Kenyan Vivian Chebet finished fourth with a time of 2:01.26, unfortunately missing out on qualifying.

Naomi Korir put in a strong effort but finished in seventh place with a time of 2:01.41.

The 800m Women's race consisted of eight heats. In the first heat, Keely Hodgkinson from Great Britain emerged victorious with a time of 1:59.53.

South African athlete Prudence Sekgodiso secured second place with a time of 1:59.72, putting her country in a strong position.

Finnish champion Evaliina Maattanen finished third, clocking a time of 2:00.41.

In the third heat, Noelie Yarigo from Benin led the pack with a time of 1:59.96, followed by German athlete Christina Herring who finished with a time of 2:00.06.

An Australian athlete maintained a pace of 2:00.29, securing the third spot in this heat.

In the fourth heat, Ugandan Hali ah Nakaayi won the 800m race with a time of 1:59.68.

Jamaican athlete Adelle Tracey came in second with a time of 1:59.82, closely followed by French athlete Renelle Lamote.

In the fifth heat, the United States' Nia Akins led the race with a time of 1:59.19.

Jemmie Reekie from Great Britain secured second place with a time of 1:59.71, closely followed by Slovenian Anita Horvat who clocked 2:00.06.

In the sixth heat, Ethiopian Habitam Alemu (1:59.36), Australian Catriona Bisset (1:59.46), and Brazilian Flavia Maria De Lima (2:00.92) all qualified.

American athlete Thing Mu (1:59.59), Jamaican Natoya Goule-Toppin (1:59.64), and Swiss athlete Lore Hoffmann (2:00.14) also advanced to the semi-finals.

The first three finishers in each heat qualified for the semi-finals, along with the three fastest runners overall. However, none of the three fastest times came from this group.

The semi-finals are set to take place on Friday, August 25th.
