Morara Kebaso offers to refund contributions to Kenyans calling him conman
By Peter Ochieng
Activist Morara Kebaso has offered to refund all the money from Kenyans who contributed to support his travels across the country.
Kebaso made a grand entry into the Kenyan activism scene in June 2024, with a brand new form of activism, moving around the country exposing government projects launched, only to be abandoned or suddenly stall along the way, even after money was paid towards their completion.
However, after being accused of turning into a 'conman and a begger,' Kebaso says he is ready to refund the money contributed by anyone who feels conned.
"I am grateful for all the support Kenyans have given me. But a time comes when a man must decide whether the nation is worth fighting for. My observation is that most Kenyans have already decided the country they want to live in."
"I cannot continue to dirtify my reputation and earn the tag of a conman or beggar. Its not worth it. I have a company to run and a family that loves me. For this reason, I would like to refund any Kenyan that has supported me and felt conned," he said in a post on social media.
Kebaso said he will verify each and every claim, before refunding the money to anyone who feels aggrieved.
"Please comment below with the Mpesa message. I will check if its real, refund you in full with a top up for withdrawal then I will copy paste my refund message below your comment. Kindly avoid faking any message because I have all messages from the day I started. The mpesa number has always been 0708985611 so this will not be hard to do."
In his fight against corruption, Kebaso who calls himself Inject Party leader has maintained that there are two ways to end what he terms as 'corrupt and dictatorial regime' in Kenya.
"There are two ways to remove a corrupt dictatorial regime in Kenya; the streets or the ballot. For both we need serious civic education. If we must go back to the streets then we need 70% of the country behind us," he said.
His brand of civic education has been about going deep in the villages and 'waking up sleeping Kenyans who think they don't pay tax and who think corruption doesn't affect them.'
