South Mugirango Member of Parliament, Silvanus Osoro has opposed Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s call for mass action from July 7 to protest the contents of the Finance Bill that was assented into law by President William Ruto.

Speaking to the media at a hotel in Mosocho town, Osoro said the demonstrations led by the opposition chief would not yield different results, just like those he has conducted in the recent past.

According to the legislator, the residents of Kisii County will not take part in the planned mass action by their Azimio counterparts on Friday because they will be harvesting their produce from the farms.

The MP defended the move by the Parliament to pass the Finance Bill saying they followed the right procedure during the enactment of the bill.

Osoro urged the residents to prepare for the President’s second visit to the county since he took office where he will launch different projects in Kitutu Chache North, Nyaribari Chache, South Mugirango, and Bomachoge Chache Constituencies.

He also requested the political leaders from the Kisii region who did not benefit from the President's first visit to take the initiative and book an appointment with him so that they may be supported in their various constituencies.

Kitutu Chache North MP, Japheth Nyakundi lauded the residents of Kisii for the excellent work they did as UDA delegates to ensure that the Kenya Kwanza administration scooped the Presidency.

“It is because of your effort that we are here today and it is your effort that made us form the government that we have today,” Nyakundi said.

Osoro and Nyakundi spoke on Monday when the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party embarked on massive recruitment of new members at the grassroots level in Kisii County.

The party, which is associated with President William Ruto, launched the registration exercise at an event that was attended by various political leaders in the region including Nyaribari Chache MP, Zaheer Jhanda, former Kisii Governor, James Ongwae, former Kisii Woman Rep, Janet Ongera and Kisii Senator, Richard Onyonka among others.
