Mudavadi no longer a stranger in Cabinet - Manyora

By Peter Ochieng

Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi is now a relieved man.

As per Proffessor Herman Manyora, political analyst, commentator and University of Nairobi lecturer, president William Ruto's Wednesday night cabinet reshuffle saved Mudavadi from the 'mockery' of occupying a position that doesn't exist in the constitution.

The PCS position is not enshrined in the constitution, and he only landed the role after Ruto was elected Kenya's 5th president in 2022.

During the reshuffle, Mudavadi was handed an additional role of Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

With that appointment, Manyora says the former Vice President will no longer be a stranger in cabinet.

He wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "The case against the ghost worker position of @MusaliaMudavadi is now dead. With a cabinet portfolio, he’s no longer a stranger in cabinet. Mulembe bosi!"

Mudavadi replaces Alfred Mutua in the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs docket. He has already thanked president Ruto for new role.

"I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been entrusted by His Excellency President @WilliamsRuto with an expanded role in the reshuffled Cabinet. I express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency for the trust placed in me by assigning me the additional vital role of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs."

He said he embraces the new role with profound sense of duty.

"I am fully aware of the significance of my dual role, and I embrace the opportunity with a profound sense of duty and dedication. I pledge to continue serving the people of Kenya and our country with unwavering commitment, integrity, and diligence. I will champion, pursue, and protect the interests of Kenyans, both within our borders and abroad," he said.

Alfred Mutua was redeployed to the tourism and wildlife docket.
