At least 3000 needy students in Soy Sub County, Uasin Gishu are thrilled to receive a four-year education bursary from the National Government Constituency Development Fund.

Speaking when he presided over the launch of the Soy Constituency NGCDF scholarship program, Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat indicated that equality in the entire society takes root from education.

He however said Ksh 7 million will cater for the first year of scholarship.

This year, we have successfully sponsored the education of 75 needy students across the Constituency for four years in Loreto Matunda High School to offer equal opportunities to reduce social class gaps.

The organization is finalizing a sponsorship plan for 50-100 students per school in all 46 secondary schools, benefiting approximately 3000 vulnerable students from the Sh 7 million fund. The legislator emphasized his unwavering commitment to supporting education for the students in the constituency.

He further noted that they are also going to the next batch of day schools where they will give them the whole four-year scholarship. They will take 50 students to each of the 46-day secondary schools identified by bursars.

In his remarks, Soy Bursary chairperson, Hillary Busolo noted that the exercise was transparent and only needy students benefited. The process was transparent and fair, using the IEBC portal to locate parents' ID Nos and birth years, and only awarding scholarships to Soy Constituency residents.
