Nyandarua County leaders have vowed to work together to realize development in the region.

Speaking in Ol Kalou Constituency on Sunday during a thanksgiving ceremony of the Kanjuiri ridge ward MCA Thuo Gachino, the leaders including Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Senator John Methu and Ol Kalou MP Njuguna Kiaraho, resolved to shelve their political indifference to achieve the development agenda of the region.

Nyahururu catholic diocese bishop Joseph Mbatia in his sermon urged the leaders to embrace the unity to forge ahead encouraging them to avoid petty fights and politics and instead focus on delivering their manifesto.

Also present at the event was former water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki who said those who lost in elections should support the incumbents to deliver the service to the people.

Governor Badilisha regretted that in the past, Nyandarua County had experienced slowed growth due to incessant fights that had been witnessed in the past regimes in the area.

Former governor of Nyandarua, Francis Kimemia was involved in court battles with the then Assembly Speaker Ndegwa Wahome.

Badilisha said that despite being ready to work with all the leaders in the region, some leaders should also respect the government in office at the moment and give their unwavering support on the same.

On his side, Nyandarua Senator John Methu asked Governor Badilisha and other county chiefs to be thankful for the extra funds given to counties in the last allocation promising more funding as the economy improves.

Earlier, the governor had asked the senator to push for the county allocation to be increased.

He said that the government is ready to support devolution, saying that they have added an extra allocation to the counties. The counties got Sh. 385 billion but the Council of governors wanted Sh. 407 billion.

Area MP Njuguna Kiaraho also insisted on the importance of leaders working together. He said this would see leaders tackle their issues together.

On alcohol, the MP said he would work with all leaders to ensure that the menace is fought.

On roads, he said that he is on the roads committee and he is pushing for more avenues to be put on tarmac in Nyandarua County.
