Commonwealth Champion, Ferdnand Omanyala, has successfully qualified for the 100m Men's final at the Budapest Athletics World Championships in Hungary, following a stellar performance in the semi-finals on Sunday.

Omanyala, who competed in the first heat, clocked a time of 10.01 seconds, securing the third position.

Three-time World Champion, Noah Lyles of the USA, topped the chart in the same heat, clocking 9.87 seconds. He was closely followed by Japan's Abdul Hakim Sani Brown, a two-time Youth Champion, who finished second with a time of 9.97 seconds.

The second heat saw Christian Coleman of the USA, Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain, and Ryiem Forde of Jamaica qualify for the final. Coleman led the pack with a time of 9.88 seconds, followed by Hughes and Forde who clocked 9.93 and 9.95 seconds respectively.

In the third heat, Jamaican sprinter Oblique Sevilla emerged as the leader with a time of 9.90 seconds, while Botswana's Letsile Tebogo followed closely, clocking 9.98 seconds.

The qualification rules stipulate that the top two finishers from each heat, along with the two fastest runners overall, advance to the final. As such, Kenya's Ferdnand Omanyala and Jamaica's Ryiem Forde, who both finished third in their respective heats, secured their spots in the final due to their impressive times.

The highly anticipated final is set to take place later today.
