The Nairobi City Marathon organizers and partners have postponed the 2nd edition of the Nairobi City Marathon from 21st May to July 2nd this year.

The Race Director, Mr Ibrahim Hussein said that the initial dates of Nairobi City Marathon have been changed because most elite runners are participating in other events in the next two months.

“There is a cancer walk race on the initial set date which is being organized and happening the same day which made us change the date,” he announced.

The Director added that Nairobi City Marathon is the biggest Marathon in Kenya which is inclusive of other races that attracts a lot of people and allows runners to participate from different places.

Speaking at the event, Hussein stated that there is the Supreme Marathon which is a major event happening in April this year.

According to Hussein, the marathon is targeting 20,000 runners this year with already 2,500 registered as per now.

“For one to register, they have to log in to nairobicitymarathon.com where international participants will have to pay 90 USD and the local participants will pay Sh1500,” announced Hussein.

He added that the full marathon which is 42 kilometers starts at 7:00am and participants should be assembled by 6:30am.

For the half marathon which is 21km, Hussein said international participants would pay 60USD and local participants Sh1200 where the participants are expected to be assembled by 6:00am for the race to start at 6:30am.
