Pamoja African Alliance urges youth to join political parties

The Pamoja African Alliance party has urged Kenyan youths to join various political parties.
PAA believes the decision of youths to join politics will bring numerous changes.
Addressing a youth political engagement forum in Mombasa County on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, PAA Secretary General Lucas Maitha, said the future governments and political parties will depend on youths.
He said joining political parties will give them room to vie for various political seats.
"From now on the real change has not yet come, the real change will be for youth to join a political movement like this, " he said.
He also remarked that when young individuals become members of political parties, their concerns and opinions will be more readily acknowledged.
Nevertheless, Maitha stated that protests against the government will not achieve the desired changes unless the youth step up and engage in the political arena.
He stated that the pressure of Generation Z on the government has enhanced accountability among leaders.
He noted that the power of Gen Z has forced the government to engage citizens on serious matters before they pass.
According to the PAA Secretary General, Generation Z made the constitutional article of public participation to be in action.
He asserted that the government has disregarded public involvement by making decisions without consulting the public.
"Through the power of Gen Z they have forced the government that before it passes it must call for public participation, the constitution has an element that says public participation, but nobody was following, they were only in the constitution but now it will happen and it is the power of Gen Z, " he stated.
He encouraged young individuals to assume political positions within different political parties.
He specifically called upon the youth of Mombasa who are interested in becoming members of the PAA party, which will allow them to run for political offices.
He emphasized that PAA offers opportunities for aspiring young leaders who demonstrate leadership skills and are committed to effecting change.
