Picture story: Ruto arrives at Climate Summit in an electric car

By Peter Ochieng

President William Ruto is among dozens of dignitaries attending the three day Africa Climate Summit (ACS) 2023 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi.

Ruto says we are all charged with the responsibility of addressing issues to do with the climate change.

"Climate action is not a Global North issue or a Global South issue. It is our collective challenge, and it affects all of us. We need to come together to find common, global solutions," he says.

The Head of State arrived at the Summit in style, using a yellow electric car.

He rode the car from State House Nairobi, on a clear road, with sections of roads having been closed in Nairobi ahead of the Summit.

The inaugural Africa Climate Summit, seeks to address the increasing exposure to climate change and its associated costs, both globally and particularly in Africa.

The Summit will serve as a platform to inform, frame and influence commitments, pledges, and outcomes, ultimately leading to the development of the Nairobi Declaration, according to the ACS website.

It is organized in parallel with the African Climate week, which serves as a platform to showcase global solutions, innovations, and projects aimed at mitigating climate change challenges.

Exhibitors from around the world will participate, providing an opportunity for attendees of the Africa Climate Summit and Africa Climate Week to interact, learn, and adopt practical solutions to climate change.
