Police arrest suspected child defiler

Police have arrested a 51-year-old alleged defiler in Nyamira South Sub County.

Nyamira South Sub County Police Commander, Moses Kirong’ confirmed to KNA today that George Basweti was arrested by police on Sunday after the minor positively identified him.

“The alleged defiler, who is the manager of Riasakami Coffee factory, waylaid the minor into a tea plantation within Morara village in Keera location on 17th may 2023 at around noon while she was on her way home from school,” said the sub county police commander.

The officer further explained that the minor’s mother who noticed her daughter’s uncomfortable walking style inquired from her what the matter was and the minor revealed what had happened to her and positively identified her defiler.

“The matter was reported at our police station the following day, and we managed to arrest Basweti on 20th May, 2023. Meanwhile the minor was treated at Nyamira County referral Hospital and she was discharged to recuperate at home,” confirmed Kirong.

Basweti will be arraigned before Nyamira law courts today, to take plea to defilement charges.
